Get started with Nostria in just a few minutes! This guide will walk you through the essential steps to join the decentralized social media revolution.

Step 1: Access Nostria

Choose your preferred platform:

For most users, starting with the web app is the quickest option.

Step 2: Create Your Account

Creating a Nostria account is incredibly simple:

  1. Click the "Sign Up" or "Get Started" button
  2. Your cryptographic keys will be automatically generated
  3. That's it! No email, no phone number, no verification required

Important: Save Your Keys! 🔑

After signing up, you'll receive:

  • Public Key (npub): Your unique identifier, like a username—share this!
  • Private Key (nsec): Your password—NEVER share this with anyone!

⚠️ Critical: Save your private key in a safe place! There's no password reset. If you lose your private key, you lose access to your account permanently.

We recommend:

  • Writing it down on paper and storing it securely
  • Using a password manager
  • Storing it in multiple safe locations
  • NEVER sharing it with anyone, including Nostria support

Step 3: Set Up Your Profile

Make your profile uniquely yours:

  1. Click on your profile icon or settings
  2. Add a profile picture (avatar)
  3. Write a bio to introduce yourself
  4. Add a display name
  5. Optionally add a banner image, website, or other links

Don't worry—you can always update this later!

Step 4: Find People to Follow

Build your social network:

  1. Explore the Global Feed: See what everyone is talking about
  2. Use the Search: Look for topics or people that interest you
  3. Check Recommended Users: Nostria suggests interesting accounts
  4. Import from Other Platforms: If you have contacts on other Nostr clients

Click "Follow" on anyone interesting to see their posts in your feed.

Step 5: Make Your First Post

Share something with the world:

  1. Click the "Create Post" or "What's on your mind?" button
  2. Type your message (up to several thousand characters)
  3. Optionally add images, videos, or links
  4. Click "Post" to share

Congratulations! You're now part of the decentralized social network! 🎉

Now that you're set up, explore:

  • Feed: Your personalized timeline of posts from people you follow
